Our Boat

The Salty Cat - 43 passenger

Although her official name is The Pride of Victoria, we affectionatley call her The Salty Cat.  Custom built for the Canadian Coast Guard in 1969, she spent many seasons on the unruly West Coast of Vancouver Island braving huge seas, high winds, and countless ocean liners transporting goods from around the World to Vancouver, Seattle and beyond.  She is 45 feet (13.7 metres) long, and 17 feet (5.2 metres) wide making her far more stable than most ships out there.  So if you have ever felt a little sea sick in the past, I'm confident you will be comfortable on our beamy catamaran.

The Salty Cat is a Transport Canada certified vessel licensed to carry 43 passengers.  Every year we haul her out of the water for rigourous inspections, upgrades and routine maintenance.  Safety of all on board is our number one priority and we are equipped with a 50 passenger liferaft, Transport Canada approved lifejackets, including ones for children, fire suppression systems in each of our engine rooms, numerous fire extinguishers, our own fire hose above deck, and we practice safety drills weekly.

The Salty Cat is fully licensed and carrys a range of local wines and beers, plus select spirits, should you choose to enjoy a cocktail on our journey.  We have a head on board (bathroom), a galley (kitchen), a great sound system (so feel free to bring along cd's or an ipod), and numerous decks offer excellent photo opportunities giving uninterrupted 360 degree panoramic views.
